Our company of trained and experienced staff, offer a comprehensive range of services that focus on the health, safety, and aesthetic of trees and shrubs within the greater metropolitan areas of Johannesburg and Pretoria.
We also provide individual consultations and experienced guidance to help you conserve and prepare your trees and shrubs for the future.
Consultation
Our arborist advise and assist clients on a wide range of tree related concerns. These consultations promote informed decision-making, helping tree owners action recommendations put forward. An example of this would be listing trees or shrubs suitable to be planted depending on site location and soil conditions. Other aspects of the consultation may include sap and soil analysis as well as tree & shrub identification.
INSPECTION
Much like consultation, tree & shrub inspections are done on an annual or bi-annual basis to monitor overall health. Once the consultation is actioned, and the trees / shrubs have received the recommended treatment or maintenance, a visual inspection of the plants is recommended at least once throughout the year. This inspection is done to monitor the progress of prior maintenance / treatment and to adjust these as they may be required.
RISK ASSESSMENT
Tree & shrub risk assessment is a systematic process of identification, analysis, and evaluation of potential weakness versus the severity of consequence should failure occur. Risk assessment is done primarily to improve public safety and to improve plant longevity. Remedial actions such as cabling, bracing, guying and propping may be considered along with pruning to limit risk. Lightning protection systems for trees may also form part of the preventative measures recommended to reduce risk.
CARE
Plant Health Care is a holistic approach in managing the health of trees & shrubs. It is a program of proactive management, that include a wide range of cultural practices as well as biological and organic control measures. Nutrition and fertilisation are often included in PHC protocols.
Planting
Establishment and installation of trees & shrubs of varying sizes, specifically chosen for the landscape and planted correctly help to ensure a beautiful environment for many generations. Staking of trees, when necessary, in such a way that do not harm the newly planted tree or shrub is part of the process. Advising on watering requirements all ensure the plants best chance for survival and growth.
MAINTAINING
Pruning is one of the most common practices an arborist will undertake. This varies from what is known as formative pruning of juvenile trees to remedial pruning that correct poor growth habits to mature tree pruning that improve health, safety, and aesthetics of the tree / shrub. Effective science-based pruning can help trees become sustainable, functional parts of the landscape.
PRESERVATION
Protecting trees that are of historical importance or from development form part of the preservation practices. Identifying which trees are more appropriate to preserve and which will tolerate construction activities, as well as creating a tree protection plan, can help provide the best chance of survival.
REMOVAL
Felling of trees that are dead, dying, or dangerous is necessary and should be undertaken to prevent injury to persons and or damage to property. Removing invasive species or problem trees may also need to be done when appropriate. Taking down trees using the necessary safety equipment and procedures help in their safe and effective removal.
